Appomattox Court House National Historical Park to Participate in Park Day
Appomattox, Va. – On Saturday, April 4, Appomattox Court House NHP will participate in the 11th annual Park Day sponsored by the Civil War Preservation Trust’s (CWPT) and the History Channel. This year’s project will be to repaint a 300-foot section of picket fence that surrounds the Plunkett-Meeks Store situated in the middle of the historic village. Participants should plan to arrive at the park at 8:45 am and stay until 4:00 pm. Bottled water will be provided, but participants should bring their own lunch. The rain date for this event will be April 25. Interested participants should register by calling the park no later than March 2nd. To register, call 434-352-8987 ext. 34 and leave your name, phone number, the number of participants you represent and each person’s tee-shirt size. The CWPT will be providing tee-shirts to volunteers. It is an excellent opportunity to bring Civil War enthusiasts together in an effort to help our nation’s Civil War sites and parks.
The park is open daily from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. No entrance fees will be charged for volunteers. Specific questions about the event should be directed to Ernie Price at 434-352-8987 ext. 27 or the park visitor center at ext. 26.
