Bocock - Isbell House


Description: 19'x50' post & beam. SE closet extension with shed roof, 2'6"x6'6", North (entrance) porch with flat roof 14'x10'6", South porch with tin shed roof 20'x10'6", both on brick piers. Exterior restored, interior reconstructed. Currently National Park Service Administrative Offices. At time of Surrender, occupied by Lewis D. Isbell, Appomattox County Commonwealth Attorney during Civil War (Judge later). Built by Thomas S. Bocock (Speaker of Confederate House of Representatives) & Henry F. Bocock (Appomattox County Clerk of Court).

Description: 12'x12' post and beam structure raised on brick piers, sheathed in weather board. Entrance on North elevation. Located 48' from Bocock-Isbell House. Restored in 1949, foundation piers replaced in 1961. Present at the time of the Surrender, the building contributes to the Bocock-Isbell House and the historic village scene.

Description: 16'x18' post and beam. Located SE of the House. Building was present at time of Surrender and contributes to the Bocock-Isbell House and the historic village scene.
