Superintendent J.W. Howard today announced that entrance fees to Antietam National Battlefield will be waived to Military Veterans and their families and to current members of the Armed Forces and their families on Veterans Day, November 11, 2009. This free admission to the National Battlefield is but a small way to say thank you to the brave men and women who have served their nation and protected our freedoms.

The Antietam National Battlefield Visitor Center will be open from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.

Did You Know?
Over 500 cannons particpated in the Battle of Antietam, firing over 50,000 rounds of ammunition. The cannonade was so severe that Confederate artillery commander Colonel S.D. Lee described the battle as "artillery hell."
