Antietam National Cemetery Summer 2011 Twilight Tours

Please join author and historian John Schildt this summer for special twilight tours of the National Cemetery. Mr. Schildt is a renowned authority on the Battle of Antietam and the author of many books. Mr. Schildt will lead you on a tour that includes the history of the National Cemetery and the stories of the veterans buried there.

There is no charge for these programs. Tours will start at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday nights in July. Please meet Mr. Schildt at the National Cemetery gate on Maryland Route 34 just east of Sharpsburg, MD.

William McKinley as a soldier and president.

William McKinley served at Antietam as a Commissary Sergeant in the 23rd Ohio Infantry before becoming the nation’s 25th President. A monument to him at Antietam was dedicated in his memory on October 13, 1903, two years after he was assassinated.
