An Afternoon of Civil War Music

Saturday, April 26 – Antietam National Battlefield and the Shepherdstown Men’s Chorus welcome visitors to an afternoon of Civil War Vocal music performed in the unique and evocative setting of the Dunker Church in the heart of the Antietam battlefield. Selections including “The Battle Hymn of the Republic”, “Tenting Tonight”, “Battle Cry of Freedom”, and “When Johnny Comes Marching Home”, will be performed a capella by this renowned group of male vocalists from Shepherd University. The approximately one-hour program begins promptly at 2:00 p.m. in the Dunker Church just across from the Visitors Center. There is no charge for this event.

Nelson Miles during the Civil War  

Did You Know?
Colonel Nelson Miles of the 64th New York Infantry was a volunteer officer at Antietam and was awarded the Medal of Honor for his bravery at Chancellorsville. After the Civil War he remained in the Army and by the Spanish American War in 1898 he was the Commanding General of the U.S. Army.
