As part of the national Wreaths Across America prgram, 1000 wreaths were laid on gravesites in the Andrew Johnson National Cemetery on December 14, 2007.
A service was held on Saturday, December 15, 2007 to honor our country's veterans. It was one of many such services held simultaneously across the nation.

Family tradition holds that Andrew Johnson arrived in Greeneville with a cart drawn by a blind pony in 1826. His mother and step-father were with him. Tradition also says they camped at a spring on the Homestead property.
