Guest Speakers

The Alaska Centers host a variety of special programs and events featuring guest speakers and partners. Events vary from site-to-site but include Discovery Days in Fairbanks, Friday Night Insight Programs in Ketchikan, and First Saturdays in Anchorage. Special guests include scientists, artists, storytellers, educators, and even live rehabilitated birds & animals.

All programs are free of charge to the public.

The Aniakchak Caldera is six miles (10 kilometers) across and 3,000 feet (1000 meters) deep. The eruption that created this caldera happened approximately 3,500 years ago and caused the collapse of a 7,000 foot mountain.
