Road, Bridge Construction May Impact Traffic
National Park Service to Temporarily Close Anacostia Drive, S.E. between Good Hope Road and South Capitol Street off ramps for re-paving
The National Park Service (NPS) will close Anacostia Drive, S.E. between Good Hope Road, S.E. and the South Capitol Street off ramps from Sunday, March 25 until Friday, March 30, 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. each night. This five-night closure is necessary to re-pave Anacostia Drive. The entrance points at Howard Road and South Capitol Street, S.E. into Anacostia Park will be closed during this temporary closure of Anacostia Drive, S.E. United States Park Police officers will be assigned to this closure and will direct traffic in this area. Traffic entering Anacostia Park from Good Hope Road, S.E. will be directed north on Anacostia Drive exiting at Nicholson Street, S.E., as Nicholson and Good Hope Road will serve as the only entry/exits to and from Anacostia Park during this period. As with all road construction projects, inclement weather may require adjustments to the schedules, including the possibility of postponement. The NPS will continue to inform the public and the media of any adjustments in the work schedules. Every effort will be made to minimize traffic delays and accomplish the work in a timely manner. The NPS regrets any inconvenience and appreciates all motorists' understanding and patience. park photo Along the Anacostia Park shore North Field Closure to 2012 In an effort to continue to enhance the visitor's experience in Anacostia Park the North Field will be closed for visitors used until March 2012 for construction. During this time reservations for cookouts, special events and field play will not be accepted for the North Field. By the conclusion of the construction the park will be enhanced with a new bike/walk trail connecting it with existing trails in Washington DC.
