Celebrate
Celebrations for Alaska Archaeology Month take place each April. Along with an annual poster, mailed to every school in Alaska, there are local events and activities which highlight a wide variety of topics of archaeological and anthropological interest.  
   
Poster
The 2007 poster highlights the culture and values of the Dena’ina people of south-central Alaska. It was sponsored by the Matanuska-Susitna Borough in cooperation with the Alaska Native Heritage Center, Anchorage Museum at the Rasmuson Center, Knik Tribal Council, Chickaloon Village Traditional Council, and the Alaska Anthropological Association Public Education Group.
 
Keynote Lecture

James Fall and Aaron Leggett will present:
Dena’ina Elnena: Dena’ina Heritage and Representation in the Anchorage Area
Dena’ina elders from Eklutna and representatives of the tribal governments of Eklutna and Knik will offer remarks at the end of the presentation.

Ted Birkedal will present:
Chasing the Past After Katrina: Archaeological Response in the Wake of the Hurricane
Ilustrated talk on his experiences as an archaeologist engaged in trying to save Mississippi’s archaeological sites from the bulldozers of debris clean-up and reconstruction in the months following Katrina’s landfall.
