On
Thursday, August 10, the National Park Service will conduct a series
of focus group meetings to gather community input on the developing
Resource Education Plan for Denali National Park and Preserve. The
plan will explore appropriate themes, goals, visitor experience
and implementation strategies, and will help to guide the direction
of the parks interpretive program, including its curriculum-based
education and outreach, for the next ten or more years.
Two focus group
meetings will be held at the Murie Science and Learning Center,
located at Mile 1.3 on the Denali Park Road. The first session will
be from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., with a second session from noon
to 2:00 p.m.
The next focus
group meeting will be held in Healy at the Tri-Valley Community
Center conference room from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. There will be
an additional meeting at the Cantwell Community Center from 7:00
p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Each session
will begin with a short introduction to the plan and the planning
process, and will afford the opportunity for interested parties
to ask questions and offer comment.
