The National Park Service cares for special places saved by the American people so that all may experience our heritage. These special places are America's treasures. Some of these treasures are well known, such as the Statute of Liberty, the George Washington Memorial, or Yellowstone National Park. Others are not so well known, like the sand dunes of Kobuk Valley National Park or the Valley of 10,000 Smokes in Katmai National Park and Preserve.

National parks preserve historic areas and natural areas, and the rich resources within. National parks are yours to enjoy and learn from, but above all, they are treasures to be preserved for ourselves and for future generations.
