Task

As they make plans and evaluate proposals for activities on park lands, park officials at Denali National Park and Preserve must consider an array of legalities concerning park and wilderness lands. One proposal currently before the park system concerns the placement of geodetic instruments linked to a Plate Boundary Observatory project in land areas that are designated as wilderness or eligible for designation as wilderness.

These instruments are designed to study the seismic activity across the active boundary zone between the Pacific and North American plates in the western United States. Complete your research into wilderness law. Then, as a legal representative, you will participate in a Policy Symposium to recommend actions to take concerning placement of these Plate Boundary Observatory (PBO) instruments in Alaska wilderness.
