Situated in Old Kodiak, this is the only surviving structure known to have been associated with both the Russian American Company (1799) and the Alaska Commericial Company (1868), trading companies that were controlling factors in the Russian and early American administration of Alaska. Local tradition holds that Erskine House was built 1792-93 as a warehouse for the Shelikhov-Golikov Company, a Siberian firm.
