| Discovered in 1939, the site is significant as the type site for the Ipiutak Culture and is one of the earliest manifestation of a 2000 year occupational continuum at Point Hope. Covering 200 acres of tundra, the site reveals a prehistoric culture which was a forerunner of later Eskimo societies. | |||||||||
