Bears must learn to catch fish in various places. This young bear is attempting to leap into a school of sockeye salmon and pin one (or more) to the river bottom. It is great fun to watch bears fishing, but don't forget that it is a matter of life and death for the bear and the salmon. For bears that don't get enough to eat in the summer don't make it through the long winter months ahead and a salmon that get eaten doesn't make it to spawn to produce the next generation of fish using its genes.
