Have you ever wondered what life was like for the people of a small southern town during the Civil War? If you have, "It Could Not Be Well Avoided" is the program for you. Visitors will gather at the rostrum in Stones River National Cemetery for a play in two acts that features eight reisdents of and visitors to Murfreesboro, Tennessee sharing their stories from the tumultuous year of 1862. The first act will cover events starting with the first Union occupation of Murfreesboro through General Nathan Bedford Forrest`s raid on Murfreesboro in July 1862. You will be startled at how people participating in and witnessing the same events can have such different perceptions of and reactions to them. Act Two will carry the stories to the end of the year, when a seemingly joyous holiday season will conclude with opening shots of the Battle of Stones River. Program Times: 11 AM and 2 PM |
