Women's History Month
March is Women’s History Month; an observance that began as Women’s History Week and expanded to the entire month of March in 1987 through the tenacious and tireless efforts of the National Women’s History Month Project. The theme for this year’s celebration is "Women Arts: Women’s Vision."

Memorial Dedicated at the African Burial Ground National Monument
The National Park Service (NPS), in partnership with the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA), the African Burial Ground Monument Foundation, the Office of the Mayor, City of New York, and the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, today dedicated a new memorial at the African Burial Ground National Monument in Lower Manhattan. The permanent memorial, constructed to honor the memories of the free and enslaved Africans buried at the original seven-acre site in the 17th and 18th centuries, was opened to the public for the first time following a dedication ceremony.

New Tour Explores African Presence in Early New York
The African Burial Ground National Monument is launching a new walking tour, “A Broader View: Exploring the African Presence in Early New York,” highlighting how free and enslaved Africans played an important role in the development of New York City.
