Compliance with Section 508 is not just a legal requirement, it is an opportunity to expand our audience and constituency by strengthening our designs and clarifying our message(s).

Designing for access should be of concern to you. It is the right thing to do, for your audience, and for the National Park Service. NPS must assure that our primary home page (www.nps.gov), and the pages we create below it, are accessible to people with disabilities. This will be a challenge in some cases, especially those in which we will be counting on our partners to comply.

This is not an excuse. We should be able to work together to reach this outcome. In some cases, our partners may be better equipped to create accessible media than we are. Check around and find out what resources are available to you.
