SERC Institute

The SERC Institute is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the Schoodic Education and Research Center of Acadia National Park. The Schoodic Education and Research Center is one of about 20 National Park Service research learning centers in the United States, and is the largest of all these facilities. The mission of the SERC Institute is to guide present and future generations to greater understanding and respect for nature by providing research and learning opportunities through its outstanding Acadia National Park setting, unique coastal Maine facilities, and innovative partnership programs. The overarching vision for SERC is to become a world-class research and learning institution, providing knowledge and transformational experiences necessary for harmony between humankind and the natural world.

Friends of Acadia and Friends of Schoodic

Friends of Acadia is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring the long-term protection of the natural and cultural resources of Acadia National Park and its region. To meet this mission, Friends of Acadia channel private donations to conservation and historic preservation projects in the park, monitors planning and legislative activities affecting the park, and publishes the Friends of Acadia Journal.

Friends of Schoodic, a committee of Friends of Acadia, is dedicated to preserving and protecting the natural and cultural environment of the Schoodic District of Acadia National Park, supporting education and research activities, and maintaining and enhancing the visitor experience. Friends of Schoodic provides volunteer opportunities that help care for the Schoodic District.
