Education

SEA Teaching Assistants/Interns (5-6 positions) - Schoodic Education Adventure (SEA) teaching assistants/interns work with the SEA Program, Resource Acadia, and the Artist-in-Residence Program. Most of the duties are with the SEA Program, which offers a curriculum-based residential program for 5th through 8th grade students and combines hands-on field experience with classroom activities. Additional duties include assisting with group meetings and general interpretive roving. Dates: August to November (variable 10-16 week positions). Stipend: $100/week (32-40 hours) plus housing and occasional meals. More information.

Resource Management
There are currently no formal internships available with the Resource Management division. Our partnering non-profit organization, Friends of Acadia, does offer several paid summer positions that can support an internship component if desired.

Friends of Acadia is currently hiring for two positions:

  • 2008 Acadia Ridge Runners (4 positions) - Ridge Runner duties include walking selected foot trails inside and connecting to Acadia National Park and providing information to visitors, performing trail maintenance work, participating in visitor use research projects, and a variety of additional duties. Dates: June 19 - August 27, with some flexibility. Days off: 2 days/week to be arranged. Hours will vary. Weekend work expected. Payment: $11/hour plus mileage reimbursement beyond daily commute.   • 2008 Recreation Intern (1 position) - Through a variety of methods, the recreation intern monitors visitor use and impacts on the carriage roads, trails, and other sites in Acadia National Park. Data collected advance the understanding and management of visitor use in the park. Dates: June 15 - August 23, with some flexibility. Days off: 2 days/week to be arranged. Hours will vary. Weekend work expected. Payment: $9/hour if housing is provided and subsidized by the park (park housing is on an availability basis); $11/hour if not.
