Acadia National Jr Ranger Day

Celebrate National Junior Ranger Day in Acadia National Park

Enjoy a special family day in Acadia National Park, either on Mount Desert Island or the Schoodic Peninsula, as part of the 5th annual National Junior Ranger Day. On Saturday, April 30, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., children 12 and under and their families are invited to get outside, get moving, explore, and discover how to protect Acadia's nature and history. (Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the great outdoors!) Children must be accompanied by an adult.

On Mount Desert Island, Junior Ranger Day activities will take place at the Sieur de Monts Spring area on Route 3 south of Bar Harbor. Play with pioneer toys, dance with Smokey Bear, practice throwing an atlatl, participate in Animal Olympics, draw nature cartoons, or try moving like Acadia's wildlife, along with other fun activities. Call 207-288-8812 for more information.

On the Schoodic Education and Research Center (SERC) campus south of Winter Harbor, you can be a salamander sleuth, learn about many different animals' adaptations to their environment, do a Leave No Trace challenge course, work on nature arts, and play old-fashioned games, as well as participate in other fun events. Call 207-288-1312 for more information.
