Group Reservations

 

Hello;

 

This will help in planning your group's visit to the Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historic Site. For groups of 10 or more, we ask that you make a reservation. Please have the following information available when you call. There is no admission charge at the park.

Please note the Park is on Eastern Standard Time. You should allow an hour to an hour and a half for your visit. The restrooms are on the right side of the visitor center, as you are facing the visitor center. The movie is 18 minutes long and plays every half-hour, on the hour and half hour. We are not always able to provide a guided tour, but the park is designed to be self-guided if necessary. Food and drinks are not allowed in the area around the Visitor Center and Memorial but there a picnic area across the street that has a shelter, tables, restrooms and water.

 

The Lincoln Boyhood Home at Knob Creek is 10 miles north of the Birthplace site. Knob Creek is a picturesque valley offering environmental education opportunities. The Lincoln Museum is 3 miles north of the park located on the town square and presents an additional education opportunity. Group rates are available at the Museum.

GROUP POLICY

 

Teachers and leaders are required to accompany students and groups at ALL times.

 

For visitor safety and protection of the natural and cultural resources, please observe the following:

  • Teachers must stay with groups at all times
  • Stay on paved walks
  • Stay off walls and fences
  • No flash photography in park buildings
  • Refrain from touching the cabin
  • No running on Memorial steps
  • Refrain from touching exhibits and artifacts
  • Drinks and food are not permitted in park buildings
  • No horseplay
  • Appropriate conduct is expected
  • Picnicking is restricted to designated picnic area across US Highway 31-E
  • Recreational activities (softball, Frisbee, running games, etc.) are not permitted in the Memorial and Visitor Center areas. Please utilize the picnic area across US Highway 31-E

Teachers and leaders are asked to report to the Visitor Center upon arrival to sign-in before touring park and grounds.

Did You Know?
Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain) was a part of the Lincoln Farm Association Board of Trustees. There were 28 board members total. Some other prominent figures on the board included Ida Tarbell, Augustus Saint-Gaudens, Richard Lloyd Jones, and Robert Collier.
