Check out featured programs at Weir Farm, from registration-required workshops to pop-in events for the 2024 season. We will update this page monthly on the 1st of the month, opening program registration for the following month. Check back on July 1st to find out what's in store for August!
 

Regular Tours and Visitor Center Hours June through October:

  • Visitor Center Open 10:00 am to 4:00 pm Wednesday to Sunday (Closed Monday/Tuesday)
  • Weir House and Studio Tours 11:00 to 3:00 Wednesday to Sunday (Closed Monday/Tuesday)

Pop-In Art-Nature Journaling with Leslie Carone - No Registration Required!
June 1 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm
Learn how to look closely and creatively document the natural world around you by creating your own art-nature journal. All supplies provided, and no registration required. Just pop-in anytime between 1 and 3.

Impressionist Plein Air Painting Workshop - Registration Now Open!
Saturday June 15 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm
Register now for the wildly popular Impressionist Painting Workshop with Dmitri Wright! This workshop is open to all skill levels, ages 16 and up. Participant's under 18 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Preference is given to new attendees and registration is otherwise first come, first serve. We are no longer taking reservations over the phone, register by emailing us at wefa_interpretation@nps.gov,Classes fill up quickly, so email us ASAP to register! We will follow up via email to confirm if you are in the program or on the waitlist and to get more information if needed.

Forest Bathing Wellness Walk - Registration Now Open!
Sunday June 16 from 9:30 to 10:45 am
Certified Forest Therapy Guide, Jennifer Salkin, will be leading a slow-paced Shinrin Yoku hike. Shinrin Yoku, also called Forest Bathing, is a way to experience the natural world with attention to sense perceptions, and has many health benefits. Register by emailing us at wefa_interpretation@nps.gov and letting us know how many people you'd like to register for. We will follow up via email to confirm if you are in the program or on the waitlist and to get more information if needed.

Take Part in Art - Informal Instruction in Watercolor and Landscape Painting - No Registration Required!
Sunday June 16 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm
Want a little help creating a masterpiece? Art Instructor Bobbi Eike Mullen provides informal instruction with our Take Part in Art watercolor supplies. Stop by and ask Bobbi for some pro tips on June 16th anytime between 1:00 to 4:00 pm, and remember free-to-use supplies are always available during Visitor Center hours! No registration required.

Artist-in-Residence Open Studio Program - No Registration Required!
Saturday June 22, 11:00 am to 12:30 pm
Stop by the Artist-in-Residence Studio between 11 and 12:30 to meet June Artist Stephen Henderson, view their work, and learn more about the Park's Artist-in-Residence program. Light refreshments will be provided by the Friends of Weir Farm. No registration required.

Connecticut Historic Gardens Day with Friends of Weir Farm - No Registration Required!
Sunday June 23 from 12:00 to 4:00 pm
Stop by for short informal talks with expert Garden Crew Volunteers, plant some seeds to take home, learn about pollinators and poison ivy, and participate in fun activities at the Friends of Weir Farm! tent! No registration required – just stop by and smell the flowers!

Weir Farm Artists Collective - Opportunity for Local Artists to Gather and Build Community!
The Weir Farm Artist Collective is a collaboration of independent artists following the tradition of creativity within the Weir Farm landscape.The first Thursday of the month will be a gathering in the Burlingham Barn with a focused discussion topic, and the third Thursday of the month will be a ‘paint out’ style gathering where artists can come to the park and make art together – parking for the ‘paint out’ days on third Thursdays will be in the overflow parking lot near the Weir Barn. Mark your calendars, upcoming dates include:

  • Thursday May June 6, 10:00 – 11:30 gathering in Burlingham Barn - No Registration Required!

  • Paint-Out - Thursday June 20 - No Registration Required!
    10:00 am suggested arrival time in Overflow Parking Lot for ‘paint out’ style artmaking together.

Exploring Stone Walls - Ranger Guided Tour
Satruday July 20 from 9:30 to 10:15 am - No Registation Required!

Join Ranger Tom on a ramble through the fields of Weir Farm National Historical Park to examine the three different types of stone walls on the property and learn about their rich history. The stone walls not only provide an opportunity to explore New England's geologic and cultural past, but they have also served as a source of inspiration to the artists that have lived and visited here for over 135 years. The tour will meet at the Park Sign out front of the Visitor Center - no registration required!
